Give your bedroom a makeover by upgrading your headboard

It's a hard life, working in interior design and writing about interior design when you live in a rental flat where you are not allowed to paint the walls, change the flooring or hang any art or mirrors! As a renter, you never quite feel you "own" your space and are always aware that you are temporarily staying in someone else's home. That's why I am constantly on the look out for "hacks" to make my space feel like my own for the time that we're here, without making any of the changes mentioned above.

One of the spaces I want to make over is my bedroom - we currently have a divan bed base with no headboard. Adding one would make a huge difference to the room, create a focal point and make it feel a lot cosier. Whilst I would love something like this, I've rounded up some more affordable options I'm considering below...

I love Sanderson fabrics and wallpapers and I'm a little bit in love with this design above from the Headboard Workshop. This would definitely create a focal point!

An unconventional option, but I am obsessed with the wicker, rattan, cane etc. trend and this mid-century option from Etsy is really beautiful.

I don't know if most of the reason I like this headboard is down to the name. The Dumpling, from Loaf is "squishy" with a lovely curved detail and you can upholster it with a choice of 153 fabrics or send them your own.

I'm very tempted by this classic curved design from the Headboard Store, you can choose a contrasting fabric for the border. I love the soft warm look of this Shetland wool.

This carved mango wood headboard from Maisons Du Monde is gorgeous, and would be such a feature, but I'm concerned I would find it really uncomfortable to lean against when I'm trying to wake up in the mornings!

If you have any recommendations, send them my way!
